AUN Breaks Enrollment Record as 29 Neem Foundation Students Take Community Pledge

The ºÚÁÏÍø (AUN) has recorded a record-breaking intake of freshmen, international, transfer, and graduate students for the fall of 2024, as enrollment went up by over 27% of the projected target.

This is as twenty-nine new students, sponsored by the esteemed Neem Foundation, participated in a special ceremony to take their Community Oath of Allegiance on Monday, October 7, held in the library auditorium. Ms. Nnenna Mosugu, the Vice President of Finance, stood in for the President, presenting the traditional sashes to the latest inductees of the academic community.

An elated President DeWayne Frazier commended all stakeholders for working very hard to achieve this milestone. "This significant increase in enrollment not only reflects our institution's commitment to academic excellence and innovation but also highlights the growing interest in quality education in this region of the country and continent. This type of enrollment does not happen by accident. It was truly a team effort from our admissions and marketing teams, as well as students, staff, faculty, alums, parents, the President's Ambassador Team, and many others," said the AUN President.

Also excited was Director of Admissions, Mr. Murtala Balteh, who added his voice: “As we reflect with pride on the perseverance and commitment of the admissions team in attaining this record-breaking enrollment, we remain grateful to the university leadership for propelling and supporting us in implementing our strategic plan to reach this milestone. The admissions department's zeal and determination to break new enrollment heights has just begun to yield results," said Mr. Balteh.

Evidently, many more students and parents in Nigeria and the African Continent are recognizing the value of liberal arts education, as attested to by freshman Ms. Halima Shettima. "I have a full understanding that AUN's liberal arts education will broaden my horizons by deepening my knowledge in business, entrepreneurship, and more, equipping me for a well-rounded future, as I have seen in many of AUN's graduates; that's what's brought me to AUN,"Ìýthe Electrical/Electronic Engineering said.

The Fall 2024 semester also welcomed 29 new students, under the support of the Neem Foundation, a leading crisis-response organization. The senior program officer for gender and education at the Neem Foundation, Minoe Duamwan, emphasized the role of education in promoting peace. "Our mission aligns with supporting education as a tool for peacebuilding, especially in regions affected by insurgency. The Lafiya Sarari Initiative aims to improve educational opportunities for these girls, while also instilling values such as respect, honesty, and integrity.

AUN, she said, will provide them with the environment and resources they need to succeed.

A law major, Ms. Binta Usman, reflected on her experience since arriving at AUN: "Neem Foundation has been my rock. The support they've given me is something I deeply appreciate, and I am determined to make the most of this opportunity. AUN's facilities and academic environment are amazing, and I'm excited about what the future holds."

The university is excited to announce that the overall enrollment for fall 2024 has exceeded the previous year's by an impressive 136%.
