On Saturday, October 26, 2024, the ’s Girl Child Aid Foundation Club hosted the “Safe Haven: Empowering Inclusivity, Building Resilience” event, a day of inspiration and guidance aimed at helping students build resilience and community support. Held in the Commencement Hall Lobby, the event provided students with essential tools for managing academic pressures and personal growth.
The day opened with an encouraging address from Vice President Kingsley, followed by a keynote speech from Club President Zainab Ahmad Shu’aibu. Her speech emphasized the importance of inclusivity and fostering a unified, supportive campus environment. To break the ice, club members Amani Habiba, Zinabari Thompson, and Fateema Kawu led a series of engaging games that not only entertained but also encouraged students to connect with each other, setting a positive tone for the day’s sessions.
The main program featured valuable insights from three prominent speakers: Mr. Babalola, Mrs. Raymond Eno Obindo, and final-year student leader Ejiro Noelle Otuokon. Mr. Babalola, a school psychologist, spoke on goal-setting and planning, urging students to focus on their motivations and build a reliable support network. Ejiro Noelle Otuokon, President of the Campus Activities Board, shared her journey of balancing academics with extracurricular activities, emphasizing the importance of time management and prioritizing commitments. Mrs. Raymond Eno Obindo offered an inspiring message on resilience, encouraging students to embrace obstacles as opportunities for growth and to re-strategize in the face of setbacks. “Don’t give up,” she advised. “Seek guidance through faith, and adapt when faced with challenges.”
The event concluded with closing remarks from Mr. Daniel Sati, who summarized the day’s lessons and thanked everyone for their active participation. Club President Zainab Ahmad Shu’aibu reflected on the impact of the event, reminding students that with a combination of academic focus, personal growth, and peer support, they can achieve their full potential.
The “Safe Haven” event was a resounding success, leaving students empowered to face their academic and personal challenges with resilience. Through this impactful gathering, the AUN Girl Child Aid Foundation Club has strengthened the foundation for an inclusive, supportive student community at AUN.
