AUN, St. George's University renew Agreement on Medical Degree for Biomedical Sciences Graduates

AUN and St. George's University (SGU), Grenada, West Indies, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) renewing an existing partnership agreement that allows interested and qualified graduates of AUN to complete their medical degree at St. George's.

The MoU, signed in October 2021, establishes a cooperative working relationship between both institutions that will permit qualified students graduating from AUN to complete their Doctor of Medicine degree at SGU, Grenada.

By the terms of the Agreement, graduates of AUN's Biomedical Sciences under the Natural and Environmental Sciences (NES) program can proceed to St. George's with the bachelor's degree and be admitted straight into SGU's Doctor of Medicine degree program, on meeting all admissions requirements.

Both institutions pledged to "develop, collaborate, and engage in beneficial educational opportunities, scholarships and financial support” for graduates of AUN Schools.

AUN students who gain admission into SGU are qualified for SGU's international students' scholarship programs.

By the terms of the Agreement, "such eligible students will be advised of the scholarship opportunity at the point of recruitment and a scholarship will be indicated on the student's offer letter."

In 2016, two AUN Alums who graduated from the NES program were awarded scholarships to study Medicine at St. George's.

While Ms. Christiana Okere was awarded the Chancellor's Circle Legacy of Excellence scholarship worth $80,000, Ms. Marilyn Elechi won the International Peace scholarship worth $54,000.

President Margee Ensign described the renewal of the MoU as a welcome development: “We are delighted to renew this important relationship, offering wonderful opportunities for those of our students who want to pursue medical careers.”
