Kigali Summit Highlights AUN's Commitment to Transforming African Education

At the just concluded 3-day Africa Universities Summit 2025in Kigali held between March 18 to 20, 2025, the (AUN)demonstrated how its students are pioneering solutions to Africa’s greatest challenges. Hosted byTimes Higher Education (THE), the summit convened over 350 leaders under the theme“United Leadership: Harnessing African Education for Sustainable Growth.”

AUN President, Dr. DeWayne Frazier, delivered a keynote on“Technological Advancements and Student Involvement in African Universities,”spotlighting the university’s model ofpractical, impact-driven education. He shared inspiring stories of AUN students who have developed innovative technologies to address societal challenges, exemplifying the University's commitment to practical education and real-world impact. "AUN continues to set a benchmark for African universities by ensuring that education is not just theoretical but also deeply practical," Dr. Frazier stated.

Earlier, AUN was introduced at the event as THE's top University for impact in Nigeria. Many universities and organizations engaged in discussions with AUN representatives, exploring potential collaborations in research, student exchange programs, and technology-driven initiatives. "Attending this conference continues to play AUN at the forefront of discussions on how the university can help shape the conversations around the continent on what quality education looks like in 21st-century Africa," Dr. Frazier remarked.

President Frazier also emphasized AUN's unique approach to education, particularly its faculty-student mentorship model, which fosters confidence, innovation, and hands-on experience. He reiterated AUN's dedication to delivering world-class education while maintaining a strong community impact. "AUN is a non-profit organization. While we are a private university, we have a very public mission. Per capita, I believe AUN does more for its region than any other university on the continent," he added.
