Upgrade Leadership Summit Inspires Emerging Leaders at  Space Hall, AUN

The Upgrade Leadership Summit, themed "People, Purpose, and Progress," took place on February 21, 2025, at the Space, (AUN). The summit's founder and convener, Jachima Obi Nwafor, a serving corps member at AUN, delivered the opening speech where he highlighted his mission “to create a network of leaders committed to acquiring knowledge and skills to produce exemplary leaders and professionals”.

Mr. Nwafor said the summit, established on January 17, 2019, also aims to develop the minds, personalities, and lifestyles of emerging leaders across Africa and globally.

The 2025 conference featured three keynotes: people, purpose, and progress. The event drew a diverse audience, including corps members from Yola, students from various AUN clubs, the Dean of AUN's Faculty of Engineering, and staff and media teams from the AUN community.

The moderator, Mr. Moses Confidence, a corps member from the Servicom CDS group, facilitated the panel discussion. Panelists included Lee Israel, an art therapist and corps member; Abubakar Isa Ahmed, President of the AUN Student Government Association; Zanaib Ahmed, President of the AUN Girl Child Aid Foundation Club; and Mandi Baba Bikoi, President of the AUN Entrepreneurship and Leadership Club.

The panelists emphasized the importance of communication, involvement, patience, and transparency in effective leadership.

University Provost Prof. Paul Vita shared his experiences, highlighting the significance of listening skills and constructive feedback in leadership.

AUN VP of Finance, Ms. Nnenna Mosugu, delivered a keynote address focusing on identifying and overcoming biases. She encouraged the audience to recognize that fear is a reaction, but courage is a decision.

The event concluded with the presentation of certificates to participants and a closing remark by Ms. Stella Udeogu, Director of the Space.
